Comes from the Old English Frigedaeg (day of Frige). Frige is the Germanic goddess of beauty, who is a later incarnation of the Norse goddess Frigg, but also connected to the Goddess Freyja. It is based on the Latin dies Veneris (Day of Venus – Greek Name: Aphrodite). Venus was the Roman god of beauty, love and sex.
As the wife of Odin, Frigg is one of the foremost goddesses of the Norse Mythology. She is the Patron of marriage and motherhood and the goddess of love and fertility.
